I was blessed to worship with Ethos Church tonight–a church in downtown Nashville led by, among others, David Clayton. I’ve known David for five years now (we both went through Lipscomb’s Hazelip School of Theology) and I am continually impressed with his heart for the Jesus Story and his ability to connect with young adults. David preached from the Lord’s Prayer–it was a remarkable teaching that will stay with me for a long time.
David and his wife are leading this church by taking risks, loving people without conditions, and unapologetically telling the stories of the New Testament. It’s easy to get cynical about the future of the church in America. Every once in a while, God opens the window and a fresh breeze rushes in.
That’s Ethos Church. Pray for them. Write them and let them know you are rooting for them to continue their mission of bringing together people of various cultures, backgrounds, and experiences into a community fueled by a big vision. Barely a year old, Ethos attracts almost 500 people a week who serve missionally in and around Nashville.
