Hair VS Weight
April 17, 2008

Some of your comments reminded me of a debate I used to have with one of my college basketball teammates.

At the age of 30 (which I’m closing in on), would you rather weigh near what you weighed at 22 and be in the process of losing your hair . . . OR . . . would you rather gain 25 lbs and maintain a head full of flowing locks?

—-

I will have two or three highly abstract and theological posts after these last two.

Fortunately (or really, unfortunately) I have the perspective of hindsight in answering. Now that I’m approaching 40 I realize I would’ve rather maintained my weight than worried about the hair. But, of course, I am torn because of Churchill’s (alleged) observance that inebriation/weight can be still modified whereas visual appeal/baldness is persistent. My apologies to Winston for stretching his dialog into a new topic. ;-)

Since I am fat, I would love to say that keeping the hair is great and blowing up is no big deal, but I would have to say I would rather be bald and skinny!

Great debate- If I got a DMin would I be able to answer these questions?

But this is easy. Hair.
You can workout/diet and change body weight, but unless you spend tons of money you cannot get hair.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I haven’t had to make that decision. I am as fat as I was back then, still with the hair that I had back then.

Probably going to have a major either loss of weight or loss of hair soon….usually something gives………:)

The game is called “would you rather” for a reason. You have to pick one or the other.

I know that’s complicated.

At least a few people got it.

lol, okay okay…….would have to pick the hair thingy…..

Josh, let me toss this one your way: Hair vs Weight vs Game. I’ve been a basketball junkie and gym rat all my life and swore the day either of my sons beat me one on one would be the day I give up basketball. It happened when my oldest turned 17 and I was 38. I am pushing 50 now and I would love to have my game back (if I were fat and bald and could still play, so be it).
But there is hope. After reading Randy Alcorn’s “Heaven” I look forward to the day when the “curse” is lifted and I can play basketball in a new body ;o)

I rather lose the hair and be thin. As I age, my hair isn’t going away, but my lap is.

This couldn’t have been more perfectly timed if we tried . . . http://www.arcamax.com/pic/51441/548434

Josh,
Definately rather lose my hair. Give me that natural cue-ball look and I’ll be as happy as a clam. unfortunatly, I’ve kept most of my hair and gained about 50 lbs; lose/lose.

Russel,

That cartoon is hilarious.

Barecycles: I’m a hoops junkie too. I feel ya.
